Why Buying Local Matters. How Our Cranbourne Factory Makes the Difference

When you are investing in new windows and doors for your home, the temptation is to focus purely on price. We get it. Double glazing is not a small purchase and it makes sense to want the best deal you can find. But price is only one part of the story. Where your windows are made, who makes them, and who stands behind them after installation matters just as much. And in many cases, it matters more.

At Amazing Double Glazing Co., we do things differently. We are not a showroom that takes your order and sends it offshore. We design, manufacture and install every window and door ourselves, right here in Cranbourne. And that difference is felt by our customers from the very first conversation through to years after installation.

A Trade That Runs in the Family

To understand why we care so much about quality and craftsmanship, you need to know a little about where we come from.

Our family has been in the double glazing trade for over 30 years. We started in the UK, running Bingley Windows, where uPVC double glazing is not a luxury. It is standard. Virtually every home in Britain has it, and the industry has decades of development, refinement and real world performance behind it. We grew up in that environment. We learned the trade properly, from the ground up, and we understood what separates a great installation from a poor one long before we ever set foot in Australia.

When we made the move to Melbourne in 2016, we brought all of that knowledge with us. We looked at the Australian market and saw an opportunity to bring genuinely European quality double glazing to homeowners who deserved better than what was available at the time. So we built our own factory in Cranbourne and got to work.

That family background is not a marketing line. It is the reason we are still here, still doing this, and still doing it the way we do.

What Local Manufacturing Actually Means for You

There is a big difference between a company that sells double glazing and a company that makes it. We are the latter.

Every window and door we install starts life in our Cranbourne factory. We use premium Deceuninck uPVC profiles, the same European engineered system trusted by manufacturers across the UK and Europe, combined with Low E argon filled glass and quality Roto hardware. From cutting and welding the frames through to glazing and quality checking, everything is done by our team before it reaches your home.

So what does that mean for you as a homeowner?

It means faster lead times. Because we are not waiting on stock from overseas or managing a supply chain with multiple moving parts, we can move quickly and work to your timeline.

It means better quality control. Every product that leaves our factory has been inspected by our own team. There is no anonymous production line on the other side of the world. If something is not right, we know about it before it gets to you.

It means genuine accountability. When the people who made your windows are the same people who install them and the same people you call if you ever have a question, the standard of care is completely different. We have skin in the game in a way that a reseller simply does not.

And it means that when we offer a 10 year warranty on our products, it is backed by a real local business. Not a call centre, not a disclaimer buried in fine print, and not a company that might not exist in five years.

The Problem With Cheap Imports

We are not in the business of talking down competitors, but we do think homeowners deserve to understand what they are sometimes buying when they go with the cheapest quote.

A lot of double glazing sold in Australia is manufactured overseas, often to lower specifications than what you would find in a quality European system. The profiles may be thinner, the glass may lack proper Low E coating, and the hardware may not be rated for the long term. It can look similar on the surface, but the performance difference over five or ten years is significant.

Beyond the product itself, there is the question of who is standing behind it. Many companies in this space are resellers. They order in bulk, mark up the price and subcontract the installation. If something goes wrong, a seal fails, a frame warps, a door drops out of alignment, the chain of responsibility gets complicated very quickly.

When you buy from us, that chain is very short. It starts and ends with our family.

European Standards, Made in Melbourne

One of the things we are most proud of is that our products are built to genuine European performance standards. Not a watered down version of them.

Our Deceuninck uPVC profiles are five chambered, which means superior thermal performance compared to cheaper two or three chambered systems. Our Low E argon filled glass reduces heat transfer significantly, keeping your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Our Roto multi point locking hardware provides a level of security that standard single point locks simply cannot match.

These are not marketing claims. They are the same specifications used in the UK and across Europe, where double glazing has been the norm for decades and performance expectations are high. We brought those standards here because we believe Melbourne homeowners deserve them.

A Free Quote, No Pressure, No Obligation

If you are thinking about double glazing for your home, we would love to come out and have a chat. We service Melbourne's south east and the Mornington Peninsula, and every quote starts with a free in home visit where we take the time to understand your property, your priorities and your budget.

We do not do hard sell. We do not do pushy follow ups. We give you honest advice based on decades of experience in this trade, and we let the quality of our work speak for itself.
